Teamwork catch game.

    • Open Space

    • Ball (each to catch for all ages)

  • The goal of the game is to be the last player standing by successfully catching the ball and not speaking while the game is played.

  • 1. Have players stand and spread out across the room.

    2. Start with one player who begins to toss the ball around.

    3. If a player talks, they are out and must sit down. If a player throws an uncatchable ball or drops a catchable ball they are also out and must sit down.

    4. Players who are out can wave their hands to pretend they are still playing to trick the other players, but still must remain silent.

    5. The last player left throwing is the winner.

    • Speed Ball (not silent)

    • Give the kids categories - they have to say something in the category before throwing the ball. Kids cannot repeat otherwise they are out. (e.g. vegetables, fruits, states, countries, etc.)

  • Go over classroom safety rules and safe throwing (not at players’ heads) before beginning play.

Optional: students that throw too hard on purpose must sit down and are out. This encourages better teamwork and respect for other players.

Reflection: Self-Management & Social-Awareness

1. How hard is it to stay silent during this game?

2. What strategies did you use to be successful in this game?

3. Who do you want to give a shout out to?
