Malcolm in the Middle

Players practice long shooting by kicking balls over Zone 2.

    • Split the large playing space in 3, horizontal zones.

    • Disc cones

    • Balls

  • Players pass from Zone 1 to Zone 3 without hitting Zone 2.

    1. Split the area into 3 zones.

    2. Put 5 players in zones 1 & 3.

    3. Leave zone 2 (middle zone) empty.

    4. Zone 1&3 have 1 ball in each.

    5. Players try to keep the ball in the air as it goes over Zone 2.

    6. Once each side receives the other team’s ball, they continue passing until the coach shouts “SWAP” again.

    • Challenge: add in 2-3 players to zone 2. These players try to stop the balls from changing sides.

    • Challenge: defenders (in zone 2) can enter zone 1&3 for light pressure

    • Before the coach calls “Swap”, players should be passing and moving in their group.

    • Kicking foot toes should be pointed down to the ground when kicking with your laces

    • Long ball passing technique

Reflection: Relationship Skills

1. Does anyone have any shout outs for the other team?

2. What does it mean to feel anxious or nervous?

-feel pressure and nervous that people are watching you and you won’t do something right or well

3. Does anyone feel anxious or nervous when they get the ball? What do you do or what do you need to feel calmer?

-Encouragement from the team, time to practice alone, people not to look at them-encourage students to come up with their own ideas.
