Flag Tag/Foxtails
Group tag game.
-
Create a large playing area with boundaries
Split the group in half giving half flags
-
Flags/fabric/pinnies
cones
-
The goal of the game is to keep your flag for as long as possible.
-
Show proper placement of flag in pocket (3/4 showing, not attached in any way)
Players may not hold on to their flag in any way
Players may not touch any part of the other players except their flag
You may only have one flag at a time. If you have a flag, you’re trying to keep it. If you don’t have one, you’re trying to get one.
If the above rules are violated, sit the violators out for a short amount of time.
Give out flags to about ¾ of the group.
Play to a certain length of time.
-
Playing with fewer flags then players results in players chasing each other more vigorously. If players are getting too rowdy, add more flags.
When a player loses a flag, they have to stop running. They have to sit instead of chasing players in trying to regain a flag for themselves. If they get one, they can stand and run again.
Create teams who are trying to take each others’ flags. If your flag gets taken, you are out. When a certain amount of time has passed, the team with the most flags remaining wins.
-
Encourage team communication
Remind players they can not hold on to their flag or stuff it into a pocket, it should be tucked into a waistband and hang down
Remind players to count to 5 to give time for people to put flags into their waistband
Reflection: Self-Management & Responsible Decision Making
1. Today we are focusing on making responsible decisions. Today you had to make the decision to wait 5 seconds after a player stole your pinny before trying to tag them.
2. Who was able to wait 5 seconds? Raise your hand. How did you help yourself wait?
2. Why do you think that was important for the game? For the team?
