Wind Blows
A get to know you game with movement.
-
Have all players in a circle in chairs or standing next to a cone
-
Cones (optional)
Chairs (optional)
-
The goal of the game is for players to switch spaces with other players when a statement is true for them.
-
1. Have all students except for one stand in a large circle. Place 2 cones between each player to mark their space, or have players sit in chairs.
2. The one student not in the circle should stand in the center. They will then say a true statement beginning with “The Wind Blows for Everyone Who…” that pertains to them. For example, the player in the middle might state “The wind blows for everyone who has long hair.”
3. The game is played like musical chairs. If that statement is also true for someone else, they need to quickly find someone to switch spots with. If the statement is false, then that person stays where they are standing and does 10 jumping jacks in their space (if space allows).
4. Players are not allowed to move to the place of a person directly next to them.
5. The last person in the middle who doesn’t have a spot stays there and makes another true statement beginning with “The wind blows for everyone who …”
-
Choose categories for people to focus on
Instead of switching spots with someone have everyone who agrees get up and look for a spot, the last person to find one is in the center
-
Make sure to indicate all questions should be school appropriate
Encourage students not to ask questions who are centered on one specific person (unless they haven't gotten up)
Reflection: Relationship Skills & Social Awareness
1. What is something you learned about someone else during this game?
2. What is something we all have in common?
