Attacking- Week 4 | Day 2

Definition

Attacking (aka Offense) is the way in which a team moves the ball up the field to create an opportunity to score a goal.

Skill

Stepover: Player drags their dominant foot around the ball counterclockwise so it lands on the same side of the ball as their other foot. Then the player uses the outside part of the same foot to kick the ball in the opposite direction, past the defender

Coaching Points

1. Practice slow to start to get used to the motion

2. Speed up when you begin dribbling away

3. Shift your body weight to the fake direction to sell the move

Advanced Skill

Double Scissors:  have the ball between your legs, drag one foot clockwise around the ball, then the other foot counterclockwise, then use the outside part of the other foot to move the ball past the defender.
