The goal of the game is to make a basket at each station around a basketball hoop.
-
1. Set up an arc around the hoop. This can be the 3 point line or a shorter distance depending on age group. Mark 5 points along the arc as shooting spots.
2. Players start on one shooting spot and try to make a basket. If they make it, they proceed “around the world” to the next shooting spot. They keep shooting from the same spot until they make a basket, then proceed to the next spot. They are finished when they travel all the way “around the world.”
-
Time the game, so that players try to get all the way around the world in one minute.
Partner players together, so players leapfrog along the shooting spots with their partner. Emphasize cheering on the partner who is shooting.
Make the whole team responsible for getting around the world, so that players work together to get around the world as many times as possible for their team.
-
Encourage players to cheer for each other
Set up expectations for good sportsmanship
