Teamwork games that have high energy.

    • Use any equipment you have to set up a series of obstacles

    • Cones

    • Basketball

    • Soccerball

    • Goal

    • Jump rope

  • The goal is to get through the obstacle course as fast as possible!

  • You can make the obstacle course with whatever materials you have available to you; the more creative and silly you can be, the better.

    1. Set up two sawhorses (the kind that your school uses to barricade the street at dismissal) about 10 feet apart from each other.

    2. Have two kids stand at the edges of the sawhorses facing each other (see diagram), each holding the end of a jump rope. Have them wiggle the rope back and forth like a snake.

    3. Place two cones at the end of the course and two at the beginning. 4. Make two lines at the beginning cones.

    5. Kids will then crawl under the first sawhorse, jump over the waving jump rope, crawl under the second sawhorse, and touch the cone and do it all again.

    6. They slap hands with the next kids in their respective lines, and those kids take off. 7. The kids who just finished can take over for the jump rope wavers.

    • Make it a true race to see which team can finish fastest or have it go on forever.

    • Substitute jump rope for an exercise like jumping jacks.

    • Have kids bunny hop, bear crawl, or use some other form of locomotion through the course.

    • Encourage each team to cheer for their players

    • Remind players what to do at each obstacle

Reflection: Relationship Skills & Social Awareness

1. How did you encourage our teammates? How does it feel when others cheer for you?

2. What strategies did you use to be successful in this game?
