Social Awareness & Attacking
Objectives:
SEL: Players will be able to identify verbal, physical, and situational cues that indicate how others may feel. Players describe the expressed feelings/perspectives of others.
SOCCER: Players will be able to demonstrate confidence and a positive attitude when attacking in a 1v1.
Day 1:

10 min- Informal Time: Attendance, Warm Welcome
15 min- Warm Up: Spider Tag
5 min- Soccer Focus Intro: Attacking Skill: Feint Move
15 min- Dribbling- Unopposed: Fall For It
15 min- Dribbling- Opposed: 1 v 1 Attacking
25 min- Scrimmage

Soccer Skill Question:
How do you do a Feint Move?
Be on the balls of your feet with a bend in your knees
Lean in the fake direction
Try dropping the shoulder or bending your knee in the fake direction
Keep the ball close to you as possible
Then lean into the opposite direction and dribble that way
When do we use a Feint move?
-When trying to dribble around an opponent
SEL Question:

-identifying how someone feels

1. How do you do a Step over Move?
-Left foot steps over the ball and lands on the right side
-The right foot kick the ball to the right and goes in that direction
2. When do we use the step-over move?
-When dribbling past an opponent

1. Who is someone that helped you out today or encouraged you?
2. How did hearing the encouragement of others make you feel?
Day 3:

1. This week we worked on Social Awareness. Who can tell us what Social Awareness is?
-Social awareness is recognizing other people's feelings and supporting them
2. Who can tell me what you can do if another player is upset that they turned over the ball?
-Talk to them, tell them it's okay, encourage them to try again
3. Who can tell me what you should do if you score on another player?
-Be excited for yourself but tell them “good try”, encourage them to try again, teach them something new

To give a shout-out to 3 players using their name for their growth over the season.
